Modern Research

Valeriana wallichii and its components have been investigated for a number of biological activities including: anticancer, antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, prevent ischaemia-reperfusion induced cerebral injury, affinity for benzodiazepine binding site in the GABA(A) receptor, analgesic, mental depression, stress management, acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity, antispasmodic and hypotensive effects mediated through K(ATP) channel activation, which justify its use in gastrointestinal and cardiovascular disorder.
