Ayurveda Characteristic and Uses

  1. Effect on doshas – Pacifies Pitt, and Kapha
  2. Taste – Astringent, bitter

  4. Main Traditional Action: Amapanchana, carminative, stomachic, antidiarrhoeal, part of Dashamula
  5. Other Traditional Uses: Fevers, arthritis, edema, parasites, and various digestive and respiratory disorders, antibiotic, antifungal, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory properties. The fruit is used to treat a wide variety of ailments, including hemorrhoids, bronchitis, cholera, smallpox, and colic. The root bark help prevent infection and for diarrhea and dysentery. The seeds are used for reproductive functions, as a remedy for constipation, bronchitis, sore throat, and mouth ulcers. The leaves ease a toothache or relieve a headache, and can increase appetite, and promote the healing of wounds.
