Modern Research

Cubeb and its components have been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antitumor, anthelminitic, antimalarial, anticancer, analgesic, antipyretic, gastroprotective, and hepatoprotective effects. Several components has also been shown to have adipogenesis effects, increasing mRNA levels of adiponectin, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma2 (PPARgamma2), glucose transporter 4(Glut4), and  insulin receptor substrate 1(IRS-1).
