Bharangi {Clerodendrum serratum}

Bharangi is also called Cheruthekku or Blue fountain bush

Ayurveda Characteristic and Uses

  4. Main Traditional Action: Treatment of bronchial asthma and other respiratory diseases
  5. Other Traditional Uses: Rheumatic conditions and painful joints, recommended in menstrual issues, fevers and skin infections, inflammations, anorexia, dyspepsia, flatulence, hiccough, and headache.

Modern Research

Bharangi and its components have been shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective effects. It has also been shown to have potent histamine antagonism property with significant mast cell stabilizing and spasmolytic activity.
